The landmark independent living scheme for the over 55s in Houghton Regis took a step closer last week with a breaking ground ceremony to mark the start of works at the Former Co-Op site.

Galliford Try Partnerships has now taken ownership of land at Watling Street, Northwich, to commence development of 70 new homes for people aged over 55.

Drew Smith donated 60 Hi-Viz vests for pupils at Moorhill Primary School in Southampton. In collaboration with the schools Friends Committee, the vests will help to keep the children safe in a busy area.

The Lord Mayor of Exeter marked the launch of a new Community & Skills Academy in Cranbrook, Exeter aimed at promoting employment opportunities in the construction industry. Councillor Rob Hannaford cut the ribbon as part of the celebration of opening the new skills academy - an initiative designed to encourage long-term unemployed people back into work by offering work placements, training, full-time work and apprenticeships.

The national partnership will deliver housing across key sites in Redcar, Cheshire, Staffordshire and Dorset.
