A former greyhound stadium, Chase Park is a 10.8-acre development just a mile from Ellesmere Port’s bustling town centre.
The site delivered an early win as part of the £2 billion-pound regeneration of Ellesmere Port, which will see 2,000 new homes built by 2020. The Chase Park brownfield site, which had been vacant since 2014, was unlocked for development by an innovative public/private sector partnership between Vistry Partnerships and Cheshire West & Chester Council.
The scheme is made up of 141 two, three and four bedroomed mews, semi-detached and detached homes and apartments. 45 of the total are affordable houses and apartments built on behalf of Cheshire West and Chester Council, their first affordable homes in over 40 years.
The capital receipt generated for the remainder of the site was recycled to deliver these homes at no additional cost to the council. 56 of the properties were delivered on behalf of Sanctuary for a mix of open market sale and Shared Ownership, with the remaining 40 homes delivered for private rent on behalf of Sigma. Adopting a tenure blind approach to design and specification, the scheme delivers a truly sustainable, mixed tenure community.
Work started on demolition and extensive remediation in October 2016, with residents moving into the first homes in summer 2017. The final units are being handed over in 2019, so all 141 homes will be completed within 28 months of securing planning consent.
