Ferry Lane

Ferry Lane is one of the largest purpose ‘Build to Rent’ developments in the UK.

Comprising 479 new homes in total, the mixed-use development overlooks the stunning Walthamstow Wetlands and is located 200m from Blackhorse Road station in Walthamstow.

This major project for Legal & General will regenerate the former Ferry Lane Industrial Estate, on the edge of Walthamstow’s wetlands, transforming the area into a sensitively designed Build to Rent scheme.

Vistry Partnerships is constructing the new homes – 85 of which will be for Discounted Private Rent – across five blocks, ranging in height from eight to 16 storeys, connected by an elevated terrace offering residents views across the wetlands.

There is a strong emphasis on the design and integration of various communal areas within the buildings, which include a heated outdoor swimming pool, an extensive gym area, outdoor BBQ and dining areas, and doorstep play facilities for young children.

Influenced by the creative culture of the local borough, Waltham Forest, the development will welcome local creative talent including a microbrewery, a local food store and spaces to support small to medium sized start-up businesses.

It also incorporates extensive new landscaping including 197 new trees, diverse planting and grasses, a civic space and urban woodland.
