Hawkesbury Golf Course to build new affordable homes in partnership with Platform Housing.
The former golf course had been highlighted by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council as part of its 2031 growth plan. The 25 acre site aims to create more homes in the area whilst also focussing on open spaces, sustainability, clever landscaping and community.
The £42m development named ‘Brindley Edge’ is situated on the edge of Hawkesbury village and will deliver 204 homes, with 101 units for Platform Housing and the remainder being sold by Linden Homes on the open market.
The scheme will consist of two, three and four-bedroom homes with a small mix of one and two-bedroom maisonettes. Approximately 12 acres of land within the development is reserved for a community centre, allotments, BMX track, an orchard and open spaces for local residents.
The area is well served by local walkways, cycle paths and public transport with Coventry and Bedworth train station close by. Easy access to the M69, M6 and A444 provides links to Coventry, Nuneaton and the wider Midlands.
Andy Reynolds, Regional Managing Director for Vistry Partnerships East Midlands said,
“We are very pleased to be working in partnership with Platform Housing to build new, sustainable and affordable homes in Hawkesbury over the next 4 years. This project adds to the growing portfolio of developments which the Borough Council has planned to increase the amount of social housing available in Hawkesbury and the surrounding areas. We’re committed to working with Platform and the local Borough to produce high efficiency homes whilst also bringing local jobs in construction to the area of Hawkesbury.”
Ian Clyde, Regional Project Manager for Platform Housing said,
“It’s strong partnerships like the one we enjoy with Vistry that enable us to provide so many affordable homes for people that really need them. Working alongside them and the local authority means we can offer a high standard of living in this prime location, along with extending the support we offer in forming strong communities.”
