Vistry Partnerships, part of the Vistry Group, has joined forces with Magna Housing to provide 90 new homes at Doniford Road in Williton, Somerset.
Plans to build the new homes have moved a step forward as full planning permission has now been granted. The new development will provide much needed homes for local people and, working with Magna Housing and Homes England, Vistry Partnerships has increased the affordable housing provision above planning requirements to deliver many more affordable homes.
Vistry Partnerships will build the 90 homes as a mixed tenure scheme, delivering 26 homes available for social rent and another 34 homes for shared ownership, featuring a mixture of one, two, three and four-bedroom houses.
The remaining 30 homes will be sold on the open market under the Linden Homes brand. The new development, named Orchard Brooks will offer a collection of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes and will be available to purchase using the government backed Help to Buy scheme on all open market homes on the development, helping buyers move onto or up the property ladder.
Work is due to begin this Summer, with the first homes complete and ready for occupation in Spring next year.
Kathryn Pennington, Regional Development Director Vistry Partnerships South West commented; “Meeting local needs for affordable housing is key for Vistry Partnerships and that’s why we are delighted to be working with Magna Housing. The increased number of affordable homes on this fantastic new development will help local people who have grown up in the area to remain local.”
Bradley Davison, Managing Director Vistry Partnerships South West added; “We are passionate about creating sustainable and vibrant new communities and are delighted to have joined forces with our partners, Magna Housing. This is our first development in partnership with Magna and we look forward to working together to provide much needed homes for local people.
We are serious about tackling the South West’s housing shortage, transforming lives and landscapes by delivering quality homes throughout the region.”
Vistry Partnerships have teamed up with Magna Housing to develop these much needed homes and increase the local housing supply. Magna Housing will manage all affordable homes on the new development and will sell homes through their shared ownership offering.
Paul Read, Head of Development and Sales at Magna, said: “Working at the land purchase stage and planning this site makes this a very exciting partnership to deliver even more affordable homes in Somerset than would otherwise have been possible. Our vision is to create great homes together and we work closely with our customers and partners to deliver this.’
The new homes add to Vistry’s extensive development in the south west with over 1,000 homes currently in development across the South West.
